Quirky Penguin Cosplay (Rachel) is an award-winning cosplayer and aspiring drag king based in St Louis.

She stumbled in her first convention somewhat by accident and tossed a costume together in less than 24 hours in order to be "one of the cool kids". As soon as con was over, she dragged out her mom's old sewing machine and demanded to be taught (thanks Mom!). Fast forward to today and you can catch her at cons across the Midwest, running gameshow panels and teaching others about costume makeup and construction.

Although she's experimented with different materials, Rachel's real baby is sewing and detailing. She taught herself to knit and hand-embroider while on cast at the Louisiana Renaissance Festival and loves to incorporate those techniques to create "lived in" real-looking costumes. (Unsurprisingly, the high fantasy genre and its costumes are some of her favorites.)
